Tankless Water Heaters

Tankless Water Heaters heat water on demand and do not use the conventional water storage system that most homeowners are used to. This new technology can save you money on energy costs since the system is only using power on demand and are not constantly heating water. Roughly 8% of new sales for water heater systems are now tankless and they seem to be gaining popularity. They are most commonly used in the building of new homes.

Installation & Savings
Converting a traditional water heater to a tankless system can be difficult and time consuming but the costs savings over the years may be worth the expense. Compared to a traditional water heater, a typical tankless water heater will save 10-20% per year on water costs and 20-40% on gas expense. Tankless water heaters have a lifespan of 20 years while a traditional water heater is expected to last 10-15 years.

While tankless water heater systems will save you money over the long run it is important to note there are disadvantages as well. For example, the normal tankless water heater system will not provide hot water until about 3/4 a gallon of water is run.

Tankless Water Heaters can replace tank systems almost anywhere but you or your contractor should check with your state and city before beginning installation. In 2007, homeowners can receive a $300 tax credit for installing a tankless water heater under the 2005 Energy Policy Act.

The number one benefit of tankless water heaters for consumers is the endless amount of hot water.
